Turistica

I haven't blogged much lately. I've been feeling overwhelmed. Samantha has been pushing my buttons lately. I know she's testing me to see how far she can go but lately I've felt like I've aged 100 years. At one point I look at her and think wow, she's amazing and 20 minutes later I look at her and think why why why are tantrums the word of the hour? But each day I wake up and try to remember it's only a phase, it will pass, I will feel like I'm doing a great job and being a mom is fun too. I hope.

Yesterday we, my cousin, Joe & I played tourist in Toronto. In the morning we went down to the Distillery district and walked around. Although the sun was out it was still a bit cold so there weren't too many people around. I'm thinking in the spring & summer more of the stores and galleries will be open. But we did discover a chocolaterie, where we sampled some delish goods. I tried a chocolate truffle with a 10 year old balsamic vinegar filling. Strange combo you would think but it was good. My cousin had the truffle with an olive oil filling. Again weird but tasty. I also had a Mayan hot chocolate. I had heard of this before and it was good, it had vanilla, cinnamon, and chili pepper tastes. Interesting. We also found this wine bar/restaurant which looked like it had good potential for a dinner one night.

After the distillery we had lunch at Spring Rolls. Quick, tasty and economical. From there we went to the St. Lawrence Market. I had not been there before and was in awe. Thank god we ate before or I think we would've come out with bags of groceries. What an amazing place. Joe did manage to buy some parmesan cheese at half the price of what we pay in the suburbs and some lamb chops. He was happy.

After we went to the ROM, but seeing as we only had about an hour and a half to spare and the price of the ticket was $20.00 we saved it for another day. We spent the rest of our time walking on Bloor, cold but enjoying the day. My cousin is off to New York tomorrow for a week but can't wait to have her return next Sunday so we can play tourist again.

we bought 4 mustards there just last week! it's tough to shop anywhere else once you've been to st. lawrence.
it's fun to have a reason to be a tourist in your own town; it took me until age 30 to get up the cn tower.

Yeah, if it weren't for out-of-town guests, I'd never visit anywhere in my own city.

I love soma chocolate.
yum.
we go to the distillery quite a bit.
We love Balzac too.

Hang in there re: "terrible two's"
Lulu went through a pretty challenging phase, and eventually it passes.
The key is to try not to react to the tantrums.
yeah right...easier said than done...

Sorry about your terrible twos. I always say they make these kids so darn cute so we won't sell em on ebay :)

The distillery district is my favvvvvvourite place. I used to live closer to it so now that I've moved, I'll feel all touristy visiting.

I wish I was closer to downtown. You make me all wistful for our pre-child days when we could stroll to all these cool places from our apartment.

I hate the tantrums.
hate

makes me insane.
